The goal for CinePaint is to create a more professional graphical editing application
aimed at the movie industry.
One of the major differences from Gimp is that CinePaint support up to 32-bit colors.
And in order to get 32-bits images into CinePaint it supports a number of professional image formats such as: Cineon, DPX and OpenEXR.
The latter of the formats has tools available under an open source license.
